Typhoon Haiyan, known as Super Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines, was one of the strongest typhoon ever recorded in the history of the country and devastated a lot of areas in November 2013. Thousands of families lost their homes and their loved ones. These people not only lost their physical things or were displaced from their homes but has also lost hope as a result of the typhoon. People didn’t know how to live in the aftermath of the turmoil.
We were blessed in Northern California that no such storm surge has ever affected our area. With such gratefulness, our volunteers came up with strategies to succor those affected by the calamity in our own little ways especially to those in the remote areas where aids were least likely to reach them. We were able to conduct garage sales from the donations of all who cared and sold printed shirts of which all the proceeds were sent back to the Philippines to provide for the needs. The cash donations that came in were also sent to purchase the basics and distributed by our volunteers. The remaining items from the garage sale which comprised mainly of clothes were sent through a local courier. Our endless appreciation goes out to all who have donated!
Through your donations we have aided the victims of the Yolanda typhoon by providing them with some of their basic needs and to some, roofs over their heads…. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
